Each frame was made with ggplot2 in R and animated with Photoshop. The shapefile was downloaded from here. The selection of artists here is pretty much whoever popped into my head.

Our baseline appears to be Beyonce. Other artists flare into our consciousness but within a few weeks we return to Googling Beyonce. Only recently has Cardi B challenged her for “Most Googled of the 5 Random Artists I Picked”, a truly prestigious title.
